The federal government has agreed to pause all oil and gas activity around the Chaco Canyon area of northwest New Mexico.

The Bureau of Land Management said this week it would reconsider a Trump administration decision that opened up fracking on 45,000 acres around the historic Indian site reported The Santa Fe New Mexican.
