Enverus reports slight growth in US rig count

 

The U.S. rig count rose by three in the last week to 770 rigs as of April 20, according to Enverus Rig Analytics.

Activity levels are down less than a percent in the last month and up 49% YOY. The count was as high as 781 in the last week, which is up 12 compared to the prior week’s peak.

The largest week-over-week change occurred in the Permian (plus five rigs to 305) and Gulf Coast (plus three to 101). Gulf Coast activity, which is up 12 in the last month, has not been over 100 rigs since September 2019.

The most active Gulf Coast operators are ConocoPhillips and EOG Resources, with five rigs each. BP, Chesapeake Energy and Marathon Oil are each running four rigs.

In the Permian, the most active operators are Pioneer Natural Resources (24 rigs), EOG (18), Occidental Petroleum (18) and Mewbourne Oil (16).
