While traders considered a European ban of Russian oil, crude oil prices rose in Thursday’s trading. It didn’t help Oklahoma energy stocks as they took it on the chin.
West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery increased $1.60 to finish the day at $103.79 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for June delivery rose $1.53 and closed at $108.33 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
May natural gas rose 2 cents to $6.96 per 1,000 cubic feet.
All that wind on Thursday blew up a bad day for many Oklahoma energy stocks. Among those firms with some eye-brow raising losses were Cypress Environmental at 14%, LSB Industries at nearly 14%, Alliance Resource Partners, Laredo Petroleum, and SandRidge Energy at 6%.
