Permian Basin oil companies fight expanded nuclear storage in New Mexico

Plans to allow more storage in New Mexico of spent nuclear fuel from commercial power plants across the U.S. are now being fought by oil and gas operators in the the Permian Basin, the most active oilfield in the nation.

The government’s already approved a license for an interim storage project in West Texas and approval of a similar operation in southeastern New Mexico is expected reported the Associated Press.
