$4 gas becomes a reality in more states - CNN Video

Four-dollar gasoline hits Oklahoma. The American Automobile Association reported Sunday that while the state’s average was only $3.86, at least six counties had averages above $4 including Coal County with the highest level at $4.13 a gallon for regular gasoline.

The growing pressure of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the response of the world to Putin’s invasion has added to rising gasoline prices that were already going up before the start of the military action.

AAA reported other counties with $4 gas include Hughes at $4.09, Logan at $4.05, McClain at $4.04, Johnston at $4.03 and Greer at $4.01. Several other counties are only a cent or two away from the $4 level.

Oklahoma’s new average of $3.86 is 26 cents higher than one week ago and 71 cents more than a month ago. Last year at this time, Oklahoma’s average was $2.66.

Oklahoma City has a $3.91 average, up 29 cents from a week ago. Tulsa’s average is $3.82, 22 cents higher from last week at this time.

Oklahoma no longer has the lowest average in the region. That honor belongs to Kansas where the average is $3.82 followed by Missouri at $3.84, Arkansas at $3.89, Colorado at $3.97, Texas at $4 and New Mexico at $4.18 per gallon.

As of Sunday, AAA reported the national average was $4.32 a gallon. It also determined through a nationwide poll that for many Americans, 59%, a national average price of $4 is enough to force them to make changes in their driving habits or lifestyle.
