Energy investors are wondering if crude oil prices will continue their rebound after settling above $73 last week for the first time in four weeks. It came as analysts and scientists indicated the omicron COVID-19 variant might be less severe than previous strains.
West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery finished up $1.03 or 1.42% at $73.79 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for February delivery finished up $1.39 or nearly 1.85% at $76.68 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
But natural gas for January delivery finished down 24 cents or 6.16% at $3.73 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks were a mixed bag. Some recorded losses including Gulfport Energy with a nearly 3% drop while others made gains including NGL Energy at nearly 4%.
