Crude oil prices rose in Wednesday’s trading and finished near $75 a barrel following word that U.S. crude inventories fell more than analysts had predicted.
Global benchmark Brent crude for September delivery finished up 26 cents or 0.4% and settled at $74.74 on ICE Futures Europe.
West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery rose 74 cents or 1% and finished the day at $72.39.
The increase came after the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories dropped 4.1 million barrels in the week leading up to July 23.
Oklahoma energy stocks were mixed. Some gained. Some lost. Devon was up about 2%. Helmerich & Payne about the same. Laredo Petroleum had a nearly 4% gain.
On the down side Cypress Environmental had a nearly 3% loss. Ovintiv dropped 4% and Unit Corp. slipped 5%.
