Crude oil prices dropped in Thursday’s trading but remained above $71 a barrel in the U.S. and $73 in Europe. Oklahoma energy prices suffered as well.
West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery dropped $1.11 to $71.04 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for August delivery dropped $1.31 to $73.08 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas was unchanged at $3.25 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks took a beating with Helmerich & Payne, Inc. suffering a nearly 8% drop in stock prices. Shares dropped 7.90% on a fall of $2.75 to $32.04.
Laredo Petroleum Inc. lost 7.08% on a $4.73 slide to $62.06.
