Rig numbers increased in Oklahoma and US

 

The latest figures available from the Baker Hughes Co. show Oklahoma’s rig activity grew in the past week as did the U.S. count.

Oklahoma increased its rig count by one to 22, far more than the 12 rigs reported active one year ago.

Nationally, Baker Hughes reported an increase of 5 to 453 rigs including 8 more oil rigs to reach 352 while the number of gas rigs dropped by 3 to 100.

The U.S. rig count is 114 more than a year ago when there were 339 active rigs. This past week’s rig count is 94 higher for the number of oil rigs and 21 for gas rigs.

Texas saw a decline of one to 216 rigs in the past week. New Mexico was unchanged at 70 while Louisiana added three to reach 55.

Colorado stayed at 10 rigs and North Dakota made a gain of one rig to reach 16. Ohio was unchanged at 10 rigs. Pennsylvania’s count of 19 was unchanged. West Virginia stayed at eleven and Wyoming  continued with four rigs.

Kansas increased its count by one to 23 according to the Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita, Kansas.

The Permian Basin saw an increase of two to 231 rigs. The Granite Wash in Oklahoma was unchanged at 3 rigs while the Woodfords in the state, according to Baker Hughes report no drilling activity.

The DJ Basin in Colorado stayed at 7 rigs while the Eagle Ford in South Texas was unchanged at 33 rigs. The Haynesville numbers slipped by one to 48. The Marcellus stayed at 30 rigs.

The Utica remained at 10 rigs while the Williston increased its numbers by one to 16.
