Pipeline protesting law challenged

When Oklahoma adopted a law targeting protesters who trespass on pipeline land, Louisiana followed suit and now the law is being challenged according to a federal judge’s ruling.

The judge ruled protesters from New Orleans and Mississippi and a New York journalist arrested during a protest of pipeline construction can continue their challenge of the law. Louisiana’s law carries a possible five-year prison sentence for anyone convicted of trespassing in the area of a pipeline reported the Associated Press.
