Crude oil prices hit with 6% fall–energy stocks did the same

The thud you just heard was oil prices dropping in Tuesday’s trading as U.S. crude oil sank 6.2% on a nearly $4 fall.

Energy companies also suffered from the steep drop in the price of crude oil.

West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery fell $3.79 to $57.26 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude oil for May delivery dropped $3.83 to $60.79 a barrel in trading on ICE Futures Europe.

April natural gas also dropped. It fell 7 cents to $2.51 per 1,000 cubic feet. The fall in oil and gas came as energy prices had been steadily climbing this year but in recent days, production around the world had been restrained.

Oklahoma energy stocks, for the most part suffered losses with only a few making some slight gains. The three firms that had the biggest losses included LSB Industries with a nearly 13% loss for the day at 58 cents a share, settling at $4.02.

Laredo Petroleum lost nearly 10% on a $3.15 fall to $29.43. Cypress Environmental Partners lost 9.24% as shares fell 29 cents to close at $2.80.

Alliance Resource Partners had a 3.67% loss on a 21 cent fall to $5.51.

Blueknight Energy Partners LP closed down 9 cents at $3.12 for a 2.80% loss.
Chesapeake Energy went down $1.05 to $41.70 and a 2.46% loss.
Cimarex Energy lost 4.27% as shares fell $2.56 to close at $57.37.
Devon Energy dropped 59 cents for a 2.64% loss to $21.74.
Enable Midstream Partners LP fell 36 cents to $6.59 for a 5.18% loss
Gulfport Energy lost more than 5% to close at $0.061 cents.
Helmerich & Payne closed down $2.47 at $27.19 and a loss of more than 8%.
Magellan Midstream Partners dropped $1.34 to $42.51 and a 3.06% loss.
Mammoth Energy Services Inc had a 3 cent increase to $4.78 and a gain of nearly 1%.
Matrix Service Company lost more than 6% on a 79 cent fall to $12.33.
NGL Energy Partners closed 6 cents down at $2.23 for a 2.83% loss.
OGE Energy fell 6 cents to $32.01 and a loss of 0.19%.

ONEOK fell $1.04 to $47.47 and a loss of 2.14%.
Ovintiv Inc. lost more than 4% on a $1.03 fall to $23.71.

PHX Minerals Inc closed 13 cents down at $3.04 for a loss of 4.10%.
SandRidge Energy lost 4.83% on a 20 cent fall to $3.94.
Williams Companies Inc added 3 cents to close at $23.01 and a very slight gain of 0.13%.
Other energy stocks didn’t do well either according to the Texas Energy Report.

EOG Resources (EOG) up 1.42 at 69.65 – change 2.08%

ExxonMobil (XOM) down 0.70 at 55.22 – change 1.25%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) down 0.10 at 15.68 – change 0.63%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.65 at 10.17 – change 6.05%

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) down 0.73 at 13.63 – change 5.08%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 0.86 at 26.59 – change 3.13%

Phillips 66 (PSX) down 1.54 at 78.98 – change 1.91%

Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) down 1.28 at 157.34 – change 0.81%

Valero (VLO) down 2.17 at 70.08 – change 3.00%
