Continental Resources expands drilling in Oklahoma

Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy has shown increased drilling interest in Oklahoma as the COVID-19 pandemic loosens its grip on the nation resulting in growing demand for gasoline and other fuels.

The company has received at least 12 drilling permits for the month of March. The latest two were in Custer County where the firm now has at least four permits to drill wells on a single pad.

The SWARTZENDRUBER wells, to be located at 34 14N 14W are north of Weatherford. Continental obtained permits the first of the month and received more later in March.

Continental Resources also obtained drilling permits for four wells in Grady County, three in Carter County at a site northwest of Ardmore and one in Stephens County.

The resumption of drilling by the company came as oil prices returned to the $60 a barrel level and following one year of slowed interest caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
