OK DEQ Board to meet to consider annual environmental report

The Oklahoma Environmental Quality Board will meet Tuesday to consider approval of its annually required Oklahoma Environmental Quality Report.

Deputy Executive Director of DEQ, Jimmy Givens will give a presentation about the proposed report and the board will consider possible action.

The Oklahoma Environmental Quality Code requires DEQ to prepare the annual report for the Governor, Speaker of the House and Senate President Pro Tempore and present it by January 1 of each year.

The purpose is to outline the DEQ’s annual funding needs for providing environmental services within its jurisdiction, reflect any new federal mandates and summarize DEQ-recommended statutory changes.

The DEQ board will also hold an executive session to conducts its annual performance review of Executive Director Scott Thompson.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and be one of the first to be held in the former SandRidge Energy headquarters tower, now known as the Oklahoma Commons building at 123 Robert S. Kerr Avenue in downtown Oklahoma City.
