Devon raises more than $35,000 for western Oklahoma nonprofits

As part of its annual Give for Good fundraising campaign, Devon Energy and its employees raised over $35,000 to support Oklahomans in need. Employees participated in an online auction, punch wall fundraiser and made pledges to raise money for the Weatherford Food & Resource Center and United Way of Canadian County.

“This year has presented challenges we never could have imagined, but Devon’s commitment to our communities remains steadfast no matter what comes our way,” said Christina Rehkop, the company’s director of community relations. “Our employees always take care of their neighbors in need. We are proud our Give for Good campaign can continue to support the Food & Resource Center and United Way.”

The Weatherford Food & Resource Center operates in Custer County, where 15% of adults and 22% of children have inconsistent access to food. In Canadian County, the United Way annually serves more than 70,000 local residents, including families, children and the elderly.

United Way of Canadian County Director Jennifer Mayo said partnerships like the one with Devon are vital to the organization’s success.

“We do everything in our power to effectively serve Oklahomans going through tough times, but we can’t do it alone,” Mayo said. “Our partnership with Devon helps us extend our reach and make a difference in the lives of even more people.”
