Gulfport Energy scores 3 large gas wells in Oklahoma’s SCOOP

Oklahoma City’s Gulfport Energy, the company that recently cut its workforce by 13 percent and suspended a share buyback program reported recent success in the SCOOP play, hitting three major gas wells near the town of Alex.

Completion reports filed this week by Gulfport MidCon LLC showed three Jeannie wells were drilled on a single pad at 27 5W 6W or 3 miles west of the Grady County town. Production from the largest of the wells was 631 barrels of oil a day but gas totaled 13,781 Mcf out of the Woodford formation, according to the completion report. Drilling depth was 21,890 feet and the well had an October 2018 spud date with completion made in April 2019.

A second well had production of 561 barrels of oil a day and 12,938 Mcf of gas from a depth of 21,327 feet. The completion report showed the well was spudded in August 2018 and completed in March 2019.

The third well showed production of 394 barrels of oil daily and 11,711 Mcf of natural gas from a depth of 21,510 feet. The completion report indicated a July 2018 spud date with completion in March 2019.

Reports also showed Continental Resources Inc. completed two wells at separate sites in Grady County, each with production of 186 barrels of oil daily.

Fourpoint Energy LLC based in Denver, Colorado continues to bring in wells in western Oklahoma. It showed completions of three more Ellis County wells. A well at 5 18N 26W had production of 256 barrels of oil daily and 356 Mcf of natural gas. A second well, 24 19N 26W produced 158 barrels of oil daily and 373 Mcf of natural gas. The third well, 34 18N 23W produced 483 barrels of oil a day and 1,294 Mcf of natural gas.

Cimarex Energy Co., another Denver-based company completed four wells in Canadian County. Two were near the community of Greenfield. A well at 17 14N 10W had production of 243 barrels of oil daily and 6,028 Mcf of natural gas. A second well near Greenfield, 15 14N 10W produced 310 barrels of oil a day and 6,776 Mcf of natural gas.

Cimarex completed a well northwest of Union City, 22 11N 8W and had production of 490 barrels of oil a day and 8,822 Mcf of natural gas. The company’s fourth well, four miles north of calumet at 31 14N 8W had production of 594 barrels of oil a day and 4,117 Mcf of natural gas.
