U.S. DOT Awards $6.8 Million to Three Oklahoma Airports

Three Oklahoma airports were awarded a total of $6.8 million in federal infrastructure grants, according to an official press release issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation on November 22, 2019. This award is part of a $485 million federal investment in America’s airports.

“The robust economy is enabling more passengers to travel by air so this Administration is investing billions of dollars in America’s airports which will address safer airport operations, fewer airport delays, and greater ease of travel for air travelers,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

On Friday, Secretary Chao announced that the grants will be given to the following airports:

  • Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport—$3 million to expand a terminal building
  • Will Rogers World Airport—$3 million to reconstruct an apron
  • Shawnee Regional Airport—$765,000 to rehabilitate a runway
