Historic pool reopens in West Texas

The giant spring-fed Balmorhea State Park swimming pool in far West Texas is back open after $2 million in repairs of damages that some once blamed on nearby oil and gas drilling.

The Balmorhea State Park Solomon Springs pool reopened this past week after being closed for months while repairs were made. It is the world’s largest-spring-fed pool, spans 1.3 acres and holds more than 3.5 million gallons of water.

It is nearly 25 deep in places and remains between 72 and 76 degrees throughout the year.
