Cheniere Energy expands its LNG operations

The construction of the $1 billion Midship pipeline in Oklahoma isn’t the only major construction effort of Houston-based Cheniere Energy, Inc.

The firm announced jointly this week with Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Inc. the completion of Train 1 of the Corpus Christi liquefaction project. The commissioning is complete and Bechtel turned over care, custody and control of Train 1 to Cheniere.

“Train 1 at Corpus Christi has achieved Substantial Completion, becoming the first liquefaction train placed into operation at a greenfield liquefaction facility in the lower 48 states,” said Jack Fusco, President and CEO of Cheniere.

It was just three years ago when Bechtel assisted Cheniere in entering the LNG export market with Train 1 at the Sabine Pass Liquefaction project. Five trains are now completed and operating ahead of schedule.

Under sale and purchase agreements (“SPAs”) with Endesa S.A. and PT Pertamina (Persero), the date of first commercial delivery is expected to occur in June 2019, upon which the term of each of these SPAs commences. Additionally, bridging volumes are expected to begin in June 2019 under an SPA with Iberdrola, S.A.

Cheniere official gave construction go-ahead orders for its 200-mile pipeline to carry natural gas from Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Bennington, Oklahomas where it will be carried to the Gulf Coast. The federal government just signed off on the pipeline last week.
