Latest earthquake in Oklahoma struck near Hennessey

One of the latest earthquakes in Oklahoma struck Friday morning, again in the northern part of the state where there is heavy oil and gas drilling along with wastewater disposal well operations.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the 2.5 magnitude quake at 7:52 a.m. with an epicenter located about 3 miles east of Hennessey. The small quake was about 3 miles deep.

It is only the latest in a series of small earthquakes that have rumbled through the region and into southern Kansas over the past several weeks.
