Judicial Committee holds confirmation hearing for Oklahoma nominee

While Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is drawing the attention this week in the nation’s capitol, Oklahoma federal court nominee John M. O’Connor will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

His confirmation hearing after being nominated for the U.S. District court for the Eastern, North and Western Districts of Oklahoma will be held Wednesday. He was nominated last spring along with Oklahoma Supreme Court justices Patrick Wyrick to the federal court bench.

“I am grateful that they have accepted the call,” said Sen. Lankford at the time of the nominations. ” I know they will serve Oklahoma well, and I encourage the Senate to promptly confirm their nominations so they can get to work. It is important that the President continues to fill the many federal judicial vacancies across the country.”

Sen. Jim Inhofe also praised the nomination.

“John O’Connor also has a distinguished record, serving on the Board of Trustees for Oklahoma State University and is well respected for both his legal ability and community service. I am confident in their abilities and urge my colleagues in the Senate to confirm them swiftly.”
