Oklahoma makes a gain in oil and gas rig numbers

Oklahoma saw a gain of one to reach 65 active oil and gas rigs in the past week according to the most recent rig report from Baker Hughes Co.

A year ago, there were 39 oil and gas rigs reported in the state.

Nationally, numbers increased by one to a total of 764. The U.S. count saw a gain of 3 oil rigs for a total of 602 while the number of gas rigs declined by 2 leaving 160 active in the patch.

Texas saw a drop of two, leaving 362 rigs active in the state. Other major other producing states included New Mexico with a gain of 3 to 111 total while North Dakota declined by one to 37. Louisiana added one to reach 66 total.

Ohio stayed at 11 rigs while Pennsylvania added one for a total of 24 rigs. West Virginia’s count slipped one to 12 and Wyoming was unchanged at 20 rigs.

The Permian Basin, the nation’s most active oil play gained one for a total of 344 rigs. The Eagle Ford was unchanged at 72 and the Haynesville saw no change with its count of 71 rigs.

The Ardmore Woodford count slipped one to 3 rigs while the Arkoma Woodford added a rig for a total of 8. The Cana Woodford added two to a total of 25.

The Barnett stayed at 3 rigs while the D-J Basin was unchanged at 17 rigs. The Granite Wash count fell by one to six rigs and the Marcellus added a rig to reach 36. The Mississippian saw no change with its 2 rigs. The Utica dropped one to 11 rigs and the Williston count fell by one to 39 rigs.
