The recession that doesn’t exist in the eyes of the White House took a toll on crude oil prices Wednesday as crude finished below $90 a barrel. Oklahoma energy stocks ended mixed—some losers and some gainers but nothing to write home about.
West Texas Intermediate crude plunged to its lowest price in months, tumbling $4.94 or nearly 6% to finish the day’s trading at $81.94 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude fell $4.83 or more than 5% and closed at $88 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Wholesale gasoline also dropped while heating oil rose and October natural gas fell 31 cents or about 4% to $7.84 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The fallout on Oklahoma energy stocks was mixed but not significant for gains or losses. Laredo Petroleum recorded the biggest loss for the day of more than 4% while the largest gain was about 3% for OG&E.
