Wind tower collapses in Oklahoma and Colorado

Wind Turbine Snaps In Half In Northeast Colorado – CBS Denver

At least two wind turbine tower collapses occurred in the past week, one in Oklahoma and one in eastern Colorado.

As OK Energy Today reported last week, the Oklahoma incident happened near the Major County town of Ames and no one was injured.

The second tower collapse happened a few days later near the Colorado town of Fleming in Logan County. The tower, according to 9 News in Denver was only six months old.

The report quoted NextEra Energy Resources spokesman Steve Stengel as calling it an “isolated incident” and that the collapse was under investigation. The tower was one of 74 that made up the Niyol Wind Energy Center that started operations in December 2021.
