New public land leases in New Mexico will triple state’s renewable energy capacity

The state of New Mexico could very well see its renewable energy capacity triple following a recent auction of public land, much of it in the county where the fabled Billy the Kid roamed in the Wild West.

Pattern Energy won the auction for 147,685 acres of leases in Lincoln, Torrance and San Miguel counties reported the Carlsbad Current-Argus.
