GOP Senators say Biden–not Putin is to blame for high gasoline prices

Led by Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford, Republican Senators on Wednesday bashed President Biden and blamed him for the rising gasoline prices that have smacked Americans where it hurts.

“He knows the math on this,” said Lankford during a Capitol Hill news conference where he said Putin’s war against Ukraine is not to blame for gasoline prices that hit an average of $4.56 a gallon on Wednesday.

Lankford launched his attack on Biden’s policies saying the President’s war on oil and gas started from day one of the Biden administration. He cited 15 “brand new” tax proposals against oil and gas in the Biden administration’s budget proposal.

The Senator said Biden policies are aimed against providing more capitol for oil and gas yet the administration wants to know why the industry isn’t producing more oil.

“This is not a result of Putin’s war. This is a result of Biden’s policies—and everyone knows it,” asserted Sen. Lankford who said there’s a way to bring prices down. “They’re just not willing to do it.”

Other Republican senators joined in the barrage of criticism on the President’s anti-oil and gas policies.

2 Energy Plays to Beat Pain at the Pump

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz pointed out that the day Joe Biden took office, the average price of gasoline was $2.38 a gallon, yet in some parts of the U.S. the price is more than $6 a gallon.

“That’s not an accident,” stated Cruz. “It is in fact the intended affect of political decisions made by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.”

Adding humor to the news conference was Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy.

“The problem is that the oil is in Louisiana, and Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas and North Dakota and Alaska and many other states—but the dip stick is in Washington D.C.”
