Lankford says Biden needs to cut off the spigot to Russia’s oil and gas

How To Turn On Your Hose Bibb (Spigot)

While the U.S. continues receiving crude oil from Russia during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford says it’s time to stop the flow of oil into the U.S.

Interviewed recently on Newsmax’s Eric Bolling The Balance , Sen. Lankford said the U.S. response should be clear. He says the U.S. should return to energy-focused policies enabling America to be a stabilizing force in domestic and global markets and use them as a path to weaken Russia’s oil production.

Lankford responded on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and introduced the Never Yielding Europe’s Territory (NYET) Act to provide the critical support Ukraine needs to defend itself and deter Russian aggression today, while imposing real costs on the Kremlin for its ongoing and potential future aggression against Ukraine.

Lankford introduced the Belarus Aggression Accountability Act to sanction Belarus or any country that aids Russia’s ongoing, unprovoked aggression toward the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Lankford supported legislation to impose US sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in December, a natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany running through the Baltic Sea.

…we’ve actually asked that same question for over a month. Now, making several things very, very clear. You cut off the switch system. You cut off access to his war machine—you do what’s called secondary sanctions on it. That’s the same thing we do on Iran right now. Where Iran has both primary and secondary sanctions meaning that we don’t do business with anyone who does business with Iran. If you want to be able to cut off the flow of money to Russia, then you also cut off secondary sanctions. The third thing is one you brought up earlier, Eric, which is very perceptive of you to bring up. That is the issue of oil and gas. The United States of America needs to radically ramp up the amount of oil and gas we produce, go to the European countries and say we can help meet the supply demands that you have, cut off the money to Russia, and one of those needs to be the Canadians also needing to be able to sale oil on the open market. That’s the Keystone Pipeline.

The Biden Administration has the opportunity right now to be able to open up the Keystone Pipeline and so that the Canadians can ship oil all the way to the Houston gulf coast and start shipping some of that oil to Europe. Right now, the geopolitical power lies in the hands of Biden whether he’s going to open up the spicket here in the US or if he’s going to let the Russian’s beat up on the Ukrainians…
