Tulsa levee system to be repaired with $137 million in federal money

Tulsa Emergency Management Update 11 a.m. Thursday

You might forgive officials in Tulsa if they’re still celebrating over the announcement that the city and county will receive $137 million to repair the Arkansas flood levees in the city.

“None of us knew this was coming, just so you know,” Keith said at a press conference reported the Tulsa World.

Tulsa city and county officials had attempted to obtain such repair funds for years, hoping to get help for water pumps, detention ponds as well as construction of a cutoff wall at the Superfund site in Sand Springs.
