A report on Friday by the Baker Hughes Co. stated that the number of oil and gas rigs in the U.S. increased by 3 to 604 in the past week and Oklahoma’s count grew as well.
The Oklahoma count grew by one to 50 rigs. A year ago, the state had 17 active oil and gas rigs.
Nationally, the number of oil rigs declined one to 491 while the number of gas rigs increased 4 to 113. The U.S. count is up 226 compared to the 378 rigs reported one year ago and it includes an additional 202 oil rigs and 25 more gas rigs.
Texas saw a decline of one to 280 rigs while New Mexico was unchanged at 95 and North Dakota stayed at 27 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas stated the number of rigs fell by 2 in the past week to 41. Colorado stayed at 12 rigs while Louisiana gained one to reach a total of 56 active rigs.
Ohio was unchanged at 11 and Pennsylvania’s count gained 2 to reach 22. West Virginia continued with 11 rigs while Wyoming’s count slipped by one to 15.
The Permian Basin remains top of the hill with 292 rigs, a decline of one in the past week. The Williston stayed at 27 and the Eagle Ford continued with 50 rigs.
The Ardmore Woodford was unchanged at one rig while the Arkoma Woodford stayed at 2 rigs. The Cana Woodford continued with 26 rigs. The Granite Wash stayed at 4 rigs while the Haynesville added one to reach 53 rigs.
The count grew by 2 in the Marcellus to reach 33 rigs. The Mississippian count grew to one rig while the Utica was unchanged at 11.
