ONG’s $1.3 billion in storm costs to be considered by Oklahoma regulators

Oklahoma utilities turn to banks, investors to stay afloat after storm

Oklahoma regulators will take up the request of Oklahoma Natural Gas for securitization of its extreme costs stemming from the February 2021 winter storm.

The matter was continued last week and Corporation Commissioners will meet at 2:30 p.m. to possibly vote on the request.

ONG asked for the use of ratepayer-backed bonds to cover its $1.3 billion in storm costs, the same maneuver that commissioners approved for Oklahoma Gas & Electric.

The meeting will be streamed live.
