Oklahoma regulators on Thursday delayed their handling of the nearly $1.3 billion securitization request of Oklahoma Natural Gas until January 25.
The request for a delay was announced Thursday morning by Oklahoma Corporation Commission chair Dana Murphy. Commissioners agreed to continue the hearing until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25.
The hearing on ONG’s request for the use of state bonds over a 25-year period to assist with more than $1.3 billion in February 2021 winter storm costs will come one day before a State Supreme Court referee listens to legal arguments in a similar case involving Oklahoma Gas and Electric.
Cause No. PUD 202100079, ONG is seeking a “Financing Order approving securitization of costs arising from the February 2021 winter weather event pursuant to the “February 2021 Regulated Utility Consumer Protection Act.”
A settlement agreement reached with the Attorney General, the Public Utilities Division of the Commission and Walmart also included the addition of $73,198,595 to ONG’s claimed “extreme purchase and extraordinary” storm costs bringing the total to $1,354,300,000.
