Crude oil prices started off the trading week with a drop in both the U.S. and overseas markets and Oklahoma energy stocks followed suit.
West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery took a 67-cent plunge to $78.23 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for March delivery fell 88 cents to settle at $80.87 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas for February managed a 16-cent increase to $4.08 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Many Oklahoma energy stocks also suffered on Monday with Laredo Petroleum sliding nearly 6% on the day, the biggest decline of any of the local stocks.
