Crude oil prices finished the trading week on Friday with another big gain as U.S. crude settled close to the $84 mark. It also proved to be a healthy trading day for Oklahoma energy stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery rose $1.70 or more than 2% to finish at $83.82 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for March delivery went up $1.59 or 1.88% and closed at $86.06 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
February natural gas fell 1 cent to $4.26 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday proved to be a strong day in trading for Oklahoma energy stocks. Out of the 23 stocks we normally report on, only one experienced a loss. Others had big gains including 7% jumps for Laredo Petroleum and Ovintiv. Helmerich & Payne had a 5% gain while Continental Resources rose 4%.
