Oklahoma’s dry conditions still present fire dangers

Fire Weather Watches/Red Flag Warnings | Oklahoma Forestry Services

Oklahoma continues to have high potential for wildfire dangers. The Oklahoma Forestry Division reports that dry air is again pushing into Oklahoma holding fire danger firmly in place across western Oklahoma with elevated conditions in the central regions.

Elevated fire weather over receptive fuels will be the case for much of Oklahoma through Thursday in western Oklahoma noting that some showers may develop in southern Oklahoma Wednesday

Wednesday: Somewhat improved overnight moisture recovery will slow the development of the active burning period, but again
dry air will overspread western and central Oklahoma.

Near Term: Fire danger indices will be consistent each afternoon through Thursday across western Oklahoma. Wednesday does
hold some rain chances in south-central and southeastern Oklahoma. Temperatures will plummet into the New Year and some precipitation chances. No significant fire danger is expected.
