Millions of dollars are going to improve streets and highways around the Los Alamos National Laboratory as the government prepares to transport nuclear waste to a Southern New Mexico underground disposal site.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports about $16 million will be spent beginning in the spring so transuranic waste including contaminated gloves, clothing and equipment can be hauled to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad.
