Drilling to increase in Oklahoma

More oil and gas drilling is planned in Oklahoma’s STACK and SCOOP plays as companies are beginning to line up with permits to drill approved by state regulators.

In Canadian County, Citizen Energy III LLC has plans for the DARROW TRUST #2H-7-6 and DARROW TRUST #4H-7-18 wells to be drilled on the same pad at 07 10N 5W, a site southwest of Mustang.

Oklahoma City’s Chaparral Energy received a Canadian County permit to drill the HUNTER 1206 #3LMH-18 at 18 12N 6W, a site east of El Reno along old highway US 66.

Grady County will be the site of increased drilling. Gulfport MidCon LLC has a permit for the SCR #5-31X6H, a well to be drilled at 30 4N 5W southwest of Lindsay.

Continental Resources continues to be active in Grady County after receiving permits for five wells on a single pad. The GEORGE #2-17-8XHWGEORGE #6-17-8XHM, GEORGE #5-17-8XHW, GEORGE #4-17-8XHW, and the GEORGE #3-17-8XHM will be drilled at 17 6N 6W, a site just east of Chickasha and along state highway 19.

A two-well pad will be drilled by Gulfport MidCon LLC. The firm received permits for the SCR #1-31X6H and the SCR #2-31X6H,located at 31 4N 5W due east of Rush Springs.

Kingfisher County will see more activity by Ovintiv Mid-Continent Inc. The EMORY #1708 2H-15X, located at 22 17N 8W is several miles northwest of the city of Kingfisher. Ovintiv received an amended permit to drill.

Fort Worth-based Trailhead Exploration LLC has two permits to drill THE OUTLAW #1-5H32X and THE RANGER #1-5H8X17, both located on a single pad at 05 8S 3E in Love County. The site is several miles southeast of the city of Marietta.

Warwick-Minerva LLC based in Oklahoma City received a permit to drill the TRIDENT 31-30 #1MHX, located at 06 7N 4W in McClain County. The site is south of Blanchard.

Two Pittsburg County wells will be drilled on a single pad by Trinity Operating USG LLC of Houston. The VERNER TRUST #2-7/18/19H and the VERNER TRUST #3-7/18H site is located at 06 5N 14E, west of McAlester.

River Rock Operating LLC of Chanute, Kansas has a permit in Nowata County for the BUCHAN #31-2 at 31 28N 17E, a site several miles east of Lenapah.

Tulsa-based Estate Oil & Gas LLC received a permit to drill the PRATHER #5, at 26 25N 13E southeast of Bartlesville in Washington County.

Oklahoma City’s Comanche Exploration Co. LLC received a permit to drill the EVANS #18-7-1H  at 18 18N 14W in Dewey County. The site is due west of the city of Canton.

In addition to the long list of new permits to drill, some completions have been reported in recent days including a Camino Natural Resources LLC well in Canadian County. The Broken Bow 1208 16-21-1mxh, drilled at 16 12N 8W, a site west of El Reno had production of 651 barrels of oil a day along with 11,303 Mcf of natural gas. It was completed in August 2021 after a June 2021 spud date.

In Ellis County, Mewbourne Oil reported completion of the Gross 22/27 Bo 1h in August. The well produced 420 barrels of oil a day and 830 Mcf of natural gas at a site located at 22 18N 24W which is south of Arnett. The well had a May spud date according to the completion report.
