Devon raises more than $37,000 for western Oklahoma nonprofits

As part of its annual Give for Good fundraising campaign, Devon Energy and its employees raised over $37,000 to support Oklahomans in need. Employees participated in a virtual punch wall, auctions and made pledges to benefit the Weatherford Food & Resource Center and United Way of Canadian County.

“Once again, Devon employees brought out all the stops to help their neighbors in need,” said Allison Bailey, community affairs professional. “People in western Oklahoma have continued to encounter unprecedented challenges throughout 2021. We are proud to once again team up with our long-term partners, the Food & Resource Center and United Way, to make a positive difference in the lives of struggling families.”

The Weatherford Food & Resource Center operates in Custer County, where 15% of adults and 22% of children have inconsistent access to food. The center provides client-choice shopping, extended hours and days of operation, fresh produce and a venue for connecting clients with vital resources.

“Many families in western Oklahoma wake up each morning wondering how they’re going to feed their families,” said Lori Flansburg, executive director of the Food & Resource Center. “We do everything in our power to effectively serve our neighbors, but we can’t do it alone. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners at Devon for helping us make a difference in thousands of people’s lives.”

In Canadian County, the United Way annually serves more than 70,000 local residents, including families, children and the elderly. Debbie Kirk, United Way Director of Canadian and Logan Counties, said Devon’s continued partnership means the organization is better able to address critical community needs.

“We truly appreciate Devon’s commitment to helping make western Oklahoma a better place for all,” Kirk said. “Through the company’s support, we’re able to strengthen more families, help more citizens lead healthy lives and set more children up for success.”
