Devon Energy raises more than $50,000 for Wyoming Nonprofits

As part of its annual Give for Good fundraising campaign, Devon Energy raised over $50,000 to support Wyomingites in need. Employees participated in raffles and auctions, and made pledges to benefit Blessings in a Backpack and United Way of Natrona County.

“It’s very inspiring to see Devon employees’ generosity year after year,” said Brent Wilson, senior production superintendent at Devon. “Our commitment to the communities in which we live and work is stronger than ever. It’s an honor to partner with organizations like Blessings in a Backpack and the United Way to help make Wyoming a better place for all.”

Blessings in a Backpack is a community-based program in Gillette, which provides weekend snacks and meals for up to 1,100 local children who would go hungry otherwise.

“No child should have to struggle because they don’t have enough food to eat at home,” said Zach Poitra, program coordinator for Blessings in a Backpack. “Thanks to Devon’s continued partnership, we’re able to provide more meals to our youngest and most vulnerable citizens.”

In Natrona County, the United Way addresses the basic needs of thousands of residents by promoting health and wellness and youth development initiatives. Anna Wilcox, executive director of the United Way of Natrona County, said support from companies like Devon is vital to the organization’s success.

“Change doesn’t happen alone — that’s what it means to be united,” Wilcox said. “Our work is made stronger through community partnerships. Thank you to Devon employees for pooling their resources and showing up for their neighbors in need.”
