Crude oil prices slipped on Monday due tor worldwide concerns that vaccines might not be effective against the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses for the day.
West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery fell 38 cents or 0.53% to settle at $71.29 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for February delivery declined 76 cents or more than 1% and closed at $74.39 on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas fell 14 cents to $3.79 per 1,000 cubic feet.
While crude oil and natural gas prices fell, so did many Oklahoma energy stocks with an 8% loss recorded by Mammoth Energy, a 7% drop for Laredo Petroleum and 6% decline for LSB Industries.
Others did not do well for the day.
The Texas Energy Report showed other energy stocks suffered losses too including 5% declines for Apache, Marathon Oil and Occidental Petroleum.
