Baker Hughes reports unchanged U.S. rig count

Baker Hughes reports an unchanged U.S. rig count in the past week while the number in Oklahoma increased by one to 49.

The count showed a total of 586 active oil and gas rigs including 480 oil rigs and 106 gas rigs. The U.S. count is up 235 from the 351 reported one year ago including an additional 213 oil rigs and 23 gas rigs.

The Baker Hughes count in Texas declined 2 to 277n while New Mexico gained a rig to reach 94. North Dakota was unchanged at 27 and Louisiana gained one to reach 49 rigs. Colorado was unchanged at 12 while Ohio stayed at 11.

The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service showed the numbers in Kansas dropped by one to 43 rigs. Three other states were unchanged—Pennsylvania at 19, West Virginia at 10 and Wyoming at 15.

The Permian Basin saw a slip of one to 293 rigs while the Williston was unchanged at 27. The Haynesville added one to reach 49 rigs. The Arkoma Woodford remained at two rigs while the Ardmore Woodford stayed at one rig. The Cana Woodford gained one to reach 28 rigs.

The D-J Basin was unchanged at 11 while the Eagle Ford stayed at 44 rigs.

The Granite Wash across Western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle was unchanged at 4 rigs. The Marcellus stayed at 29 while the Utica was unchanged at 11 rigs.
