Rising gasoline costs prompt new anti-Biden meme

Don’t be surprised if Oklahoma gas pumps start sporting the latest meme sticker blaming President Biden for the high cost of gasoline. It’s not just the “let’s go Brandon” meme. Now the “I did that” stickers are showing up at gas pumps throughout the country, courtesy of pranking drivers.

The “I did that” stickers mocking Biden are widely for sale in bulk on the Internet, including on Amazon.com. according to one report.

Nationally, the average is $3.42 a gallon, up 2 cents in the past week and 18 cents higher than a month ago.

The rising cost of gasoline might have slowed only slightly across the nation but don’t tell that to drivers in Tulsa where the average price rose 7 cents a gallon in the past week.

Tulsa drivers now pay an average of $3.09 a gallon, higher than the $3.02 average reported a week ago according to AAA. A year ago, Tulsa’s average was $1.71.

Oklahoma City drivers pay $2.99 on average, only two cents more than one week ago but $1.20 more than they paid last year at this time.

Of Oklahoma’s 77 counties, Coal County in the southeast has the highest average at $3.36 a gallon. At least 16 counties in the state have averages from $3.118 up to the high of $3.36. Another 16 counties have averages from $3.07 to $3.117 a gallon.

Only 12 counties have averages from $2.869 a gallon to $3.014. The cheapest gasoline in the state is found in Lawton where the average is $2.87, actually 3 cents lower than a week ago.

Oklahoma’s $3.04 average, up 3 cents in the past week, is still the lowest in the region. The average in Texas is $3.08 while Arkansas averages $3.07. Others include $3.11 in Kansas, $3.51 in Colorado, $3.37 in New Mexico and $3.12 in Missouri.

GasBuddy reported the cheapest gas in the Oklahoma City area on Sunday was $2.57 in Tuttle. It also said the lowest price in the Tulsa area was $2.79 in Okmulgee while the lowest in Muscogee was $2.94. Ardmore’s best find was $2.94 while $2.89 was the lowest price in Bartlesville.

In Coalgate, home of the state’s highest average at $3.36, GasBuddy reported the best buy was $3.29 at one station.

AAA reported that since last Thursday, these 10 states have seen the largest increases in their averages: Ohio (+10 cents), Arizona (+7 cents), Indiana (+5 cents), New Mexico (+4 cents), Illinois (+4 cents), California (+4 cents), Minnesota (+3 cents), Hawaii (+3 cents), Maine (+3 cents) and West Virginia (+2 cents).
