Fallen Air Guard airman honored Wednesday

 

An Oklahoma Air National Guard airman killed by a rocket attack in Iraq last year was honored Wednesday as state officials named part of a highway near Claremore in his honor.

Staff Sergeant Marshall D. Roberts served with the 219th Engineering Installation Squadron, 138th Fighter Wing and  was killed in action during a rocket attack in Iraq while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve on March 11, 2020.

The ceremony to designate “TSgt Marshall D. Roberts Memorial HIghway”, State highway 20 from 145th East Avenue to 209th East Avenue was held Wednesday.

Oklahoma U.S. Sen. James Lankford was on hand to provide remarks during the ceremony to be held at the Muscle Car Restoration, 4470 OK-20 in Claremore.

The Senator previously honored fallen hero TSgt. Roberts on the floor of the Senate.
