Crude oil prices didn’t exactly jump in Tuesday’s trading but in the US, they held steady with a slight increase toward a possible $81 a barrel mark.
West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery managed a 12 cent increase to $80.64 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent crude oil for December delivery slipped 23 cents and closed at $83.42 on ICE Futures Europe.
It might be considered only a pause in the rally that has resulted in multi-year highs but also produced concerns that higher energy costs might slow or halt a global economic recovery.
The steadiness of crude prices didn’t seem to help Oklahoma energy stocks much at all. While LSB Industries recorded a nearly 9% gain for the day, many others experienced losses including a more than 5% drop for Laredo Petroleum.
