Williams awaits production to resume in the Gulf

U.S. natural gas pipeline system is reliable, resilient & secure in the face of extreme weather | Williams Companies

Williams Companies Inc. indicated it is ready and waiting to receive natural gas from the offshore platforms in the Gulf that had been shut down because of damage from Hurricanes Ida and Harvey.

The storm damage is still affecting numerous operations along the Gulf. Many suffered power outages and operations are stalled.

Shell is still attempting to restore production in Perdido and Williams indicated its pipeline and processing facilities are ready to receive natural gas from the offshore platform.

Reports indicated Hurricane Ida caused severe structural damage to Royal Dutch Shell’s West Delta-143 offshore facilities and they will remain offline for repairs.

As the largest Gulf Coast oil producer in the U.S., Shell indicated the time to repair its underground pipes damaged in the storm will cut its production from the three offshore fields by nearly 200,000 barrels of oil and gas a day.

An estimated 28% of the Gulf crude production is still closed due to the damage from the hurricanes Ida and Nicholas. Shell’s 250,000-bpd Norco refinery is closed because of extensive damages.
