Town sues over tribal meat processing plant near Glenpool

Tribe to build meat plant - PressReader

The Muskogee Phoenix reports residents of the eastern Oklahoma town of Winchester are going to court against the Muscogee Nation in a fight to shut down a new tribal-funded meat processing operation.

The paper says the town and five families are accusing the Looped Square Meat Processing Co. plant of violating environmental laws under the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

The $10 million meat processing facility was built in the past year at a site south of the tribe’s Duck Creek Casino a few miles south of Glenpool on U.S. 75. Ground was broken in October of 2020.
