Illinois becomes 1st Midwestern state to pass a law phasing out fossil fuels

As it invests $700 million in nuclear reactors over the next five years, the state of Illinois is the first in the Midwest to go to 100% clean energy by 2045.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the landmark law this month making Illinois the first state in the coal-heavy Midwest to commit to eliminating carbon emissions reported Yahoo News.
