US benchmark crude oil prices rose slightly while the global benchmark Brent crude slipped in Wednesday’s trading after OPEC and allies agreed to stay with their existing crude oil production increases. It left analysts saying prices finished the day “steady.”
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 9 cents before finishing the day at $68.59 a barrel. Earlier in the trading, WTI dropped to $67.12 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent crude fell 4 cents and settled at $71.59 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Brent had fallen to a low of $70.42 a barrel before rising to a higher settlement.
The steady finish in prices came after OPEC+ decided to stay with the policy announced in July of phasing out record output cuts by adding 400,l000 barrels a day a month to the market.
It also proved to be a steady day for most Oklahoma energy stocks. NGL Energy Partners had the biggest fall of the day at nearly 7%.
