U.S. crude oil prices were unchanged and European oil managed only a slight increase in Thursday’s trading as the threat of Gulf crude production from Hurricane Nicholas retreated. The weak day in trading had the same affect on Oklahoma energy stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude finished the trading session unchanged and remained at $72.61 a barrel while global benchmark Brent crude rose 21 cents or 0.3% to end the day at $75.67 a barrel.
Brent’s increase followed a Wednesday high of $76.13, the highest mark since the end of July. The WTI had reached its highest level on Wednesday since Aug. 2.
As crude oil prices limped to the close of trading on Thursday, Oklahoma energy stocks had the same kind of day following some double-digit gains recorded on Thursday.
NGL Energy Partners had the highest gain at nearly 6%.
