A decision by China to release state oil reserves resulted in a nearly 2% drop in U.S. crude oil prices in Thursday’s trading while Oklahoma energy stocks had a mixed response.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 1.7% or $1.16 to finish the day at $68.14 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent futures fell $1.15 or 1.6% to settle at $71.45 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. The result was a two-week low for crude oil prices as they reached their lowest settlement since Aug. 26.
Oklahoma energy stocks saw a mixture of gains and losses. Cypress Environmental Partners dropped nearly 7% while PHX Minerals recorded a more than 4% gain.
