Baker Hughes rig count increases in US—holds steady in Oklahoma

Oklahoma down to only 12 working oil and gas rigs – Oklahoma Energy Today

 

The latest Baker Hughes rig report showed the rig activity in Oklahoma remained at 32, unchanged from a week ago while the nationwide count increased by 6, reaching a total of 503 rigs.

The U.S. count included 7 more oil rigs to reach a total of 401 while the number of gas rigs declined by one to 101. The U.S. count is 249 higher than a year ago including an addition of 221 oil rigs and 30 gas rigs.

Oklahoma’s count compares to 235 in Texas which is three more than a week ago. New Mexico was unchanged at 82 while Colorado remained at 11 and North Dakota stayed at 22.

Louisiana’s count increased by four to 39 while Ohio was unchanged at 12 and Pennsylvania’s count slipped by two to 17. West Virginia continued with 9 rigs and Wyoming stayed at 18. Kansas, according to the Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil & Gas Service saw its numbers increase by one to 34.

The Arkoma Woodford in Oklahoma stayed at one rig while the Ardmore Woodford saw its numbers slip by two leaving two active rigs in the play. The D-J Basin in Colorado was unchanged at 123 rigs while the Eagle Ford in South Texas declined by one to 34 rigs.

The Granite Wash in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle was unchanged at 4 rigs. The Haynesville stayed at 48 while the Marcellus saw its count slide by two to 26 rigs. The Mississippian added one rig to reach one rig.

The Permian Basin count increased by four to 254 while the Utica stayed at 12 and the Williston was unchanged at 23 rigs.
