Protesters urge Iowa energy company to retire coal energy

Dozens of environmental protesters paraded in downtown Des Moines, Iowa this week demanding that MidAmerican Energy give up its coal-fired power plants.

The protesters, many wearing masks, gathered outside the headquarters of the state’s largest energy company and carried signs calling for the firm to retire all of its coal plants in nine years reported Iowa Public Radio.
